Use a dedicated USB audio interface (such as Focusrite Scarlett, Behringer UMC, Motu M2, etc.): you will have a clean, balanced, calibratable signal, perfect for REW.
Make sure your microphone (UMIK-1) is positioned at the correct height (ear level when sitting in the listening position), and in the main listening area. An important rule is not to move the microphone too often between measurements, as this can distort the results.
In addition to the per-microphone curves, you could overlay a reference curve, which would represent the average of all microphone readings. This would allow users to quickly see if a particular microphone is higher or lower than the average, making adjustments easier.
It sounds like a sample rate or driver issue on the new laptop. Try setting the UMIK-1 and Windows audio to the same sample rate (e.g., 48kHz) in sound settings. Also, check if exclusive mode is enabled in Windows sound properties. If the issue persists, reinstall the MiniDSP and REW drivers...
