MiniDSP EARS compensation could benefit from an active compensation system

There's additional compensation being done by default to make the resulting graph more comparable to things like Innerfidelity's measurements. This mostly consists of lowering the treble from 2KHz up I believe. Even then, if one simply wanted to do a perfect single band correction, I am not...

MiniDSP EARS compensation could benefit from an active compensation system

This is hard to really explain, but I will try to make it clear. If you look at raw measurements made with professional systems, like GRAS, you will see what looks like a regular frequency response graph that is "bent" and warped. When you then overlay the compensation curve, you can see that...

A workaround for overly smooth EARS calobration files

I have been working with my EARS rig for a while now, and have figured out some of the quirks and oddities it presents. The compensation files you are presented seem to be an average of several results. The problem with this when using EARS vs an open-air mic is that the measurements will vary...

Subtractive vs additive EQ, pros and cons?

Thanks! I've seen some headphone measurements where everyone gets a big deep dip aomewhere, and then the CSD graphs show a peak that just gets phased out somehow. Very odd. That's the most obvious place I've seen this phenomenon.

Subtractive vs additive EQ, pros and cons?

I've been EQing studio monitors and subwoofers and headphones with REW measurements and filters for a while now, and I very early on devided I didn't like doing additive bell curve corrections to correct for dips. I haven't really checked it out in a long time, so I can't say I have a good...
