So, we've dug into this deeper, and it seems that the issue of OP's poor alignment is down to Denon using 300m/s as their speed-of-sound constant for the speaker distance UI. If you use accurate distances, measured by tape or converting measured delays using 343m/s, you get inaccurate results...
