For movies. streaming or movie theaters. Since I started with laser discs, I've found that I have no interest, generally, in watching movies more than once.
Added in edit: I do have about 200 BDs of opera and ballet but I consider them music with extra features.
I have 3 subs, 2 KEF KC92 and 1 SVS SB-2000Pro, in a music-only system. They are equalized independently and integrated with the main speakers by DL-ART.
Flare Audio claims the shape of our ears "distorts sound by up to 20%, causing our brain to filter this distortion and resulting in a loss of detail between 2kHz and 8kHz."
The shape of our external ear (pinna) also contributes to sound localization. I don't think we want to compromise that.
