I am not quite sure what you mean. REW uses a fixed cycle or octave window for FDW. As an half educated amateur I understood, that using two such settings for low and high frequency could be beneficial. For the low frequency the octave setting should be longer as to resolve lower frequencies...
I am interested in EQing frequencies above 1 kHz. I read that phase is important there without having fully understood why. Nevertheless, comparing Dirac‘s full frequency EQs and my homegrown REW attempts I can hear why.
Using FDW as you did, one measures mostly the direct sound from the speaker...
I guess the topic that I have touched has been discussed extensively here already
https://www.hometheatershack.com/threads/feature-request-frequency-dependent-windowing.99673/page-1
It seems to me, that the FDW „sees“ the loudspeaker‘s direct sound, and that loudspeaker has a „dent“ in the...
THanks for your answer
Thanks for you answer. I had to sort out a few things before I could progress but am on a good path now. I thought that if I dive into phase and Rephase, I rather do this with the full system response. Hence I now play seeps via Roon so that my music and the REW paths...
I recorded responses that I have trouble understanding:
These are two large speakers in a 20 sqm room, placed near corners – there is no other options. And I prepare myself for a DRC measurements with REW.
Now, the first display shows a 20 sec 10-20 Khz sweep with time alignment and default...
I confess that I probably do not understand this fully.
I assume that we correlate the input sweep to the recorded one. Time alignment will tell us about the time delay between the two signals. Will Rew then still finetune the match? Or take that delay as it is and stretch the time axes with...
Yes, but finetuning the clock will still create a more symmetric impulse response regardless if the acwar switch is on or off- is that something to aim for? And Oversampling the UMIK will then just create an illusion of a smoother adjustment process.
I am probably getting carried away a bit here - but for the sake of it:
I discovered the task "adjust clock" in the impulse window and played with it.
I played a 48 Khz sweep and looked at the impulse and then changed the clock by - 5 ppm to make the wavelet a bit more symmetric. This does...
John,
may be I think wrongly. I can not feed audio into my Raspi with Volumio. I could add an Hifiberry ADC Hat (which I actually own for my phono setup), but otherwise I do not achieve any audio input.
So I want to play a recorded sweep with Volumio or via the Roon bridge (which would have the...
Thanks. That is the best solution. But I am lazy, I just want to play recorded sweeps on the Raspi and then analyse them in REW on Windows. I am sure there are hundreds of Windows software packages that record from a USB microphone - I there one that can be recommended?
Testing with Rew showed that my (30year old) amplifier has a dent at 8khz on the right channel. I use that amplifier only with a Raspi4 and Volumio and Roon. I want to add an Amp2 board to my Raspi4 so I have the amplifier integrated. But then I can not use REW easily as I a missing a simple...
You are right. For every new measurement, the EQ type is frozen into that meaurement. Even doing a "Reset Filters" will not override this original EQ setting by a new one. This has to be done through the EQ Window
... that is all fine, I am just saying, that even after resetting all filters and creating new ones, any update in the preferences is not honoured. Likewise, any new measurement done after a first EQ will not honour any subsequent changes in EQ preferences. Saying, that no changes in EQ...
