Trinnov Altitude Review: Five Features That Set It Apart From Other Processors

I count two fans. The one on the side seems quite large, so it can run slowly while still moving a decent amount of air. The one on the motherboard (for the processor? Strange it seems to not have a heatsink). I know too little of the architecture in use, quite likely. If it's silent, nothing...

Trinnov Altitude Review: Five Features That Set It Apart From Other Processors

I hope so... been waiting a long time now. :-) Also, it might well be that the cabinet for Altitude has plenty of space for a hefty heatsink, making fans run extremely slowly (hence quiet). Again, for the price, I would kinda expect that.

Trinnov Altitude Review: Five Features That Set It Apart From Other Processors

I don't own it, much as I'd like to. It's Dirac for me, waiting for ART. Nonetheless, I have experience with quiet fans (my HTPC uses only Noctua fans). Unless they are kept below 800 rpm, fans can be heard in a quiet room. I don't know what Trinnov does in this regard but the point would...

    Unfolded Circle Remote 3

Thanks for this. Definitely more powerful (it appears) from what I envisioned. I will look further into it.

    Unfolded Circle Remote 3

With Pronto you could use customize the screen 100%. Adding how many touch buttons you wanted, in whatever shape you wanted.

On-Axis Listening from the Sweet Spot; Why It's Important.

Still trying to figure out how to conjugate this with KEF's coaxial drivers. Lots of people recommend to place them off-axis to the main listening position. What are your thoughts about that?

    Unfolded Circle Remote 3

Is the screen customizable to the level offered by Pronto? All screens/videos I see suggest that it's pretty limited in what the user can achieve. Am I wrong?

Trinnov Altitude Review: Five Features That Set It Apart From Other Processors

Only thing at fault (apart from the price 😄), is processor choice. Intel has long lost the crown of energy efficiency and, nowadays, it would be nice to have ARM based solutions, that could probably afford to be fanless. And price becomes a factor for this, as for this kind of money I would...

Samsung’s Micro RGB is Here, and It May Outshine OLED

They call it like this exactly to create confusion. Same exact strategy of QLED. Which looked "suspiciously" like OLED. This being the same company, the benefit of doubt is something I'm not granting them. And there's proof in this very same discussion. By an informed person, nonetheless, which...

Samsung’s Micro RGB is Here, and It May Outshine OLED

I do believe there are. It's no mention of their number that sounds suspicious to me. At the end of the day, this remains a backlit LCD.

Samsung’s Micro RGB is Here, and It May Outshine OLED

No mention of control zones for local dimming? Strongly doubt this has any chance to outshine OLED. Unless it's meant in a literal sense.

OLEDs Go Head-to-Head at the 2025 TV Shootout, Sony Squeaks Out the Win!

LG doesn't support DTS either in this year's models. Quite surprised in seeing LG perform so badly to be honest. To the point that I feel asking: is it worse than last year's G4 in some regards?

    Unfolded Circle Remote 3

And that's entirely fine, clearly, for your use case. I personally started with Pronto and ditched it in favour of Harmony remotes, sadly now out of production. Still using Harmony 555.

    Unfolded Circle Remote 3

Too few physical buttons once again. The four colored buttons (red, blue, green, yellow) and the numbers buttona were really the minimum to have on top of the previous models. Minimalist design is one thing, form over function a whole different beast. :-(

Goer Dynamics’ AURO-CX Codec Joins KORG’s Live Extreme Platform for Immersive Streaming

Industry, both for video (movies and tv series) and music has converged on Atmos. I don't see anything worth a switch from their point of view. Unless I'm missing something, which is always a possibility. Note that I'm not questioning the technical value of this solution. But if I'm asked if...
