    Elite's Dynamic VSX-LX805 AV Receiver – A Full Review

That bodes ill for all the AV brands concerned.... many highly regarded brands have already disappeared into new corporate ownerships only to fade away.... Perhaps it is up to us, the consumers, to highlight what we expect / hope for, and what kind of electronics we are seeking / willing to...

    Elite's Dynamic VSX-LX805 AV Receiver – A Full Review

This raises a couple of questions.... 1) Who owns the MCACC licence, now that Pioneer has taken their Bat & Ball and gone home? Does PAC still have the right to use the MCACC tech in future generations of AVR/AVP? (and if they don't, does that by default force them down the Dirac path at this...

    Elite's Dynamic VSX-LX805 AV Receiver – A Full Review

Well I first joined the Onkyo family due to Audyssey back in my SR876 days... but the Audyssey quest was ultimately unsatisfying (including trying XT32 on the Integra DTR70.4)... Seems like after they bought the Pioneer licence, MCACC was rebranded as AccuEQ on Onkyo/Integra... In my current...

    Elite's Dynamic VSX-LX805 AV Receiver – A Full Review

Latest news from the grapevine, is that PAC have stepped back from their previous commitment to bring ART to the Onkyo Icon series... This does not bode well for prospects of Dirac ART on other existing platforms (let alone Pioneer platforms).... :(

    Elite's Dynamic VSX-LX805 AV Receiver – A Full Review

Although the LX805 (and its RX70 and DRX8.4 siblings/clones) is a great piece of kit, the recent instability of the Voxx/PAC company is a cause for concern. Voxx has recently been sold/purchased, and in the runup to that sale and the mess around Voxx making losses, Pioneer withdrew the licence...

    Onkyo RZ50 Owners thread

Dirac is noticeably better in terms of dialogue intelligibility and the midrange clarity / imaging.... On the other hand AccuEQ was easy and quick to set up, and did also sound good... but It thought Dirac was definitely better.... (yes subjective! hard to quantify!)

    Onkyo RZ50 Owners thread

The RZ70 (and possibly its Pioneer brethren?) have recently been seen discounted substantially. They are beasts of AVR, with substantial power, as well as the addition of dual sub channels, support for DLBC and future ART support likely. If you can stretch up to that price bracket, it is good...

    Onkyo RZ50 Owners thread

The latest release from Onkyo is that the RZ50 will be supporting DLBC (albeit single sub only) - not clear when this will be

    Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 Owners Thread

Dirac Live is on a par (I think better) with Audyssey XT32 (which comes with Audyssey's SubEQ functionality) Dirac Live Bass Control - DLBC is the next step up for bass - it does its stuff with subs, and mostly multi-subs - it has a huge following and many people swear by it. - it is the next...

    Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 Owners Thread

The 505 calibrates the subs and speakers in much the same way that XT32 does DLBC adds capbilities that XT32 doesn't have, and allows much better integration of large speakers and subs or multiple subs.

Pioneer Elite Makes Massive Statement with New Flagship Receiver, VSX-LX805

Which may have been required for shielding from the high frequency EMI of the Class D circuitry?

Pioneer Elite Makes Massive Statement with New Flagship Receiver, VSX-LX805

I always thought the key distinction was the SC was Class D... Hence the LX805 being a VSX model is Class AB... If they release an LX905 (there were rumours about a year back... but who knows!) - it might possibly be an SC-LX905... it was mentioned on a DTS playfi "certified compatibility"...

Pioneer Elite Makes Massive Statement with New Flagship Receiver, VSX-LX805

I believe the DLBC multisub licence is US$399 (and not $499...) Looking forward to some bench tests.... would love to know whether the amps are as promising as they seem for low impedance speakers...

Benchmark AHB2 Power Amp: The Quietest and Cleanest Amp on Planet Earth?

I don't think it (the speaker) actually requires massive power, it just requires massive current, and an amp that is stable at its low impedances... Some amps get unstable at low impedances, other amps just run out of "puff" (current). But if you calculate out using the SPL efficiency specs...
