    Part 2 - 2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Hello, Thanks heaps for the feedback. Appreciate those much better. I used the following DSP steps: 1. IR time aligned to generate vector averages. Generated LR (Vector average) from these R & L channel averages. 2. Applied PEQ at 1.0 slopes above and below 200h at 66db with Var graph. Applied...

    Part 2 - 2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

G'Day, Ran a new set of measurement over the week-end with a standing mic and MLP. Attached is the updated file and showing the mic in the listening room. - Found that I was using the wrong cal file for the Umik mic since i have 2 !!!! Resolved that issue. - Moved the mic as advised above...

    Part 2 - 2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

@Keith_W Thanks for that elaborate explanation. You did well having a foot in Zetland (prices gone through the roof). I am not an expert at analysing all the REW components other than FR but your proposed actions are easy to understand and makes a lot of sense. Excited to get onto the new...

    Part 2 - 2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Thx mate am from Sydney. Yep the cheapo tripod in play but taken at head position from the listening sofa. What are the correction options with the better measurements? I will definitely get another standing tripod if that would help.

    Part 2 - 2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Few years back, I started the DSP journey through REW. Advice from experts here and elsewhere brought a real SQ transformation guided by REW measurement capabilities. Tried Dirac but way prefer simpler adjustments using REW. Below is a snapshot of the measurements years back compared to now...

Please clarify this excellent filtering process

@moedra Thanks heaps for your work and posting in here. After many years of trying several DRC techniques, I tested yours and can attest the resulting sound was not just good but phenomenal. Why? - bcoz other techniques always muddied something though an Inversion technique for Schroeder FR...

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

    Point noted when measuring L+R.

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Hmmm interesting... i looked into the L/R and combined Impulse as below. Both are negative but the stereo is positive. I am assuming this is normal. Prefer the sound as per current polarity

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Ah ok.. thanks. Is it something I need to fix say by reversing the polarity and/or trying to get better result with the sub with 0deg. Honestly I don't understand the technicality or impact of negative polarity but I have always been pleasantly surprised by little tweaks - all in the ever...

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Not sure about the polarity... the Impulse is similar to the Youtube (i.e going on the negative side). My sub Phase is set at 180 deg as it integrates better with my 3-way speaker than at 0 deg.

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Forgot to mention - though I followed most steps, I did not update my L and R speakers SPL Offset or adjusting the Impulse for both channels to 0. The SPL required +0.2 and -0.2 (nets to zero imbalance which was nothing). From Impulse analysis, my Right speaker required 27cm away from LP... I...

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

@Wayne A. Pflughaupt I followed the recently updated PDF under the Youtube video . I did not apply step 4 (Width Cycle: 35) - but rather l did all steps at 1/24th Octave (under All SPL). Also I linearized my speaker specific CrossOver ( as taught by Serkan). In the past, I tried fixing the...

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

Hey Folks, Thought I share my 2.1 stereo journey. Thanks to REW, have had a lot of changes over time mainly around speaker positioning and its response tweaking. As guided.... it was essential that I get the speakers to level match for any noticeable improvement to yield. I have been trying all...

2.1 Stereo Calibration - what am I missing?

@serko70 I managed to try out the Phase Inversion technique and played around with the Target slope curve and Target Level. The Impulse measurements allowed me to slightly adjust my speaker toe-in and physical distance from the LP. I have a big dip in the bass section so tried with a lower...
