John pointed me in the right direction.
I did a lot of searching and most hits were about remoting into your office computer but wanting to talk in a Teams or Zoom call using a local microphone, whereas I want to use the mic on the remote machine that is running REW. I finally found this...
Today I tried running REW on my Windows 11 media PC in the listening room while using Remote Desktop on a computer in my office in another room. Everything seemed to work, I could navigate REW and activate the Generator, but the SPL meter was not reading correctly. I found the media PC (as...
Re DanDan's comment:"Sure, why not?"
Well, Audacity has an input gain control and who knows what Windows might be doing.
So I did a test: ran pink noise in my listening room, got a REW RTA measurement with the mic plugged into the computer running REW. Then I made a recording from the mic...
Thank's John!
I was wondering whether Audacity would record the UMIK mic bits without alteration and whether REW could work with files. I very much appreciate the quick answer.
I'm going to get my car treated to reduce road noise in the cabin. I want to do before/after measurements. I'd like to use the REW RTA for that. I don't want to try and do that while also driving (duh) so I'd like to record the noise using the UMIK calibrated mike and then be able to play that...
A bit more info and another question for John.
Anthem let me know that ARC reference level is at Volume setting of -10 dB. So if that's 85 dBc SPL for -20 dBFS pink noise it explains what I'm seeing; I've been targeting 85 dBc at Volume setting of 0 dB. ARC is apparently calibrating so that...
I'm having a tough time level calibrating my new Anthem AVR MRX 1140. I've run ARC Genesis, and I've used the internal noise generator and I've measured level with the REW sound level meter (SLM) with (batch) calibrated UMIK-1 mic, and with Radio Shack SLM. I think the Anthem is setting things...
