I use a TP-Link TL-SG105 between my 8c's and take that back to my Antipodes CX server which has Ethernet output. The Ethernet input on the CX connects back to my wider home network. Laptop/REW connects over Wi-Fi. It's absolutely rock solid here and I've done a factory reset on the 8c's 2-3...

Have a look at the roon forum, there are issues with certain 8 port+ switches. Try a 5 port switch between them OR assign static IP addresses.
