Thanks a lot. Phase (Minimum Phase) is no factor in the computation. As long as I only want to generate one EQ set for the stereo output of the speaker, I am probably safest to use L+R measurements as the basis. If using several measurements around the listening position, I will average them in...
I am recently working a lot with REW (wonderful tool!) and use the EQ functionality a lot. I usually take multiple measurements and correct timing and SPL when necessary. I am not sure, what averaged measurements are the best to calculate proper EQ values in REW. db average is named as a...
How did you set MaxGain in the TraceArithmetic of A/B. Since you have a boost, you probably have allowed a few db there, correct?
Did you measure, if the dip went away? When boosting you do not know in advance, if it will have an effect.
Great and thanks! I just tried this out and it seems that this approach can be iterated with more smoothing (e.g. 1/12 up to 200, 1/6 up to 8k, 1/3 above 8k). This works by using the "Merge B toA" result with the next smoothing.
This is much more comfortable than editing the TXT-Files and the...
FYI. A comparison of measurements and generated filters (REWs 1/12-smoothing, my mixed-smoothing, REWs variable-smoothing).
My mixed smoothing in the middle is using 1/24, 1/12, 1/6 and 1/3 smoothings for different regions of the frequency response (transitions are approx. at about 66Hz, 225Hz...
I know, I am fiddling around and try to build a version optimized for (my) room correction 😁. Results are getting more and more similar ... not ready to tell yet, if I put too much effort into this.
This should not be related to John's comment about "Keep Full IR". But John would probably be able to explain the behaviour of the trace arithmetic when your input data exceeds 22kHz. It might be a bug but there might also be good reasons for it. In the later case, it would be extremly helpful...
Thanks, for the hint to the paper. More reason for me not to touch the highest frequencies and let them live 😁. However, I assume that these frequencies are typically cut in the music production process. I need to check some more information about digital mastering and what is typically done for...
I continued some listening today and I am really impressed. I also used your target settings which sound very well balanced!
I am inspired and will do more testing.
This morning I saw a YouTube video about some research with high frequency content. Although inaudible, higher frequencies (also...
Thanks for sharing 😊👍🏻. I use very similar preferences. Is it important in your workflow(s) to "Keep full IR" and to "Set window widths automatically"?
I will update REW and also repeat the process from scratch. I let you know. Thank you (and linuxonly as well) for your support!
I FOUND THE PROBLEM ... and the problem were my measurements
- I measure up to 24kHz. Thus, my exported 1/12 smoothed measurement contained data above 22kHz.
- After I...
I will do more testing tomorrow and over the weekend and let you know. Afer some listening v1 is not really better but a little sharper in the highs and that is because my intended smoothing has not been applied. I will make more attempts with using the MP-Target but at the moment do not get an...
Thanks for your reply. I followed your procedure. I stumbled upon the MP version of the target. When doing A/B with Target-MP/Smoothed-L-MP my result has no IR and thus cannot be exported as IR. Did you generate MP-versions of the filters? If so, why do you export an MP-version of an MP-filter...
I tried out a lot of functionality within REW and found no way. But then came to an easy manual approach. I exported the measurement with different smoothings. From the exports (all .txt files) I took out the respective portions, combined them into a new .txt file and then imported this new...
