The Future of Disc Rentals: Redbox Doubles-Down, Amazon Cuts

I started with Netflix disc rentals (4 out at a time) in 1999 and only just recently dropped that part of the service.

The Official Power Sound Audio Subwoofer Discussion Thread

The T-18s are surprisingly easy to move with carpet sliders underneath. I can slide them around the room without much effort. With my first set of PSA subs, I did not put sliders under them....a few months later, I had hernia surgery. Coincidence?? :) Of course, the T-18s have gobs and gobs...

The Official Power Sound Audio Subwoofer Discussion Thread

I'm in! Started with dual XS15s...wasn't enough so I got quad XS15s...still not enough...hmmm, might as well go for broke. Traded the XS15s for dual T-18s...FINALLY, what I was hoping for. you REW! My graph sucked...enter a single S3000 to smooth my response...ahhh, that's better. And...

    AV NIRVANA book club

Kindle is the way to go. If you read with a reading light or outdoors most of the time, you can get away with the basic 6" that lacks any lighting. It goes for $79, but around Black Friday it will probably be closer to $50. ;) Here's a great forum for all things Kindle: http://www.kboards.com/

Bruce Willis’ ‘Death Wish’ Nov. 22 launch

Hmmm...looks promising. Directed by Eli Roth, who is a little hit & miss for me.

    AV NIRVANA book club

I've been strictly ebook for several years now and can't imagine going back. :) Some standouts in the last year or so: Dark Matter by Blake Crouch The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins The Fireman by Joe Hill The Revenant by Michael Punke Night of the Grizzlies by Jack Olsen Dark Places by...

    Blade Runner 2049

Ahhh yes, The Right Stuff. Forgot about that one. Been a very long time since I've watched it. Looks like it's not available on Netflix, and a $4 rental on Amazon. Might just have to buy the BR. RIP Sam Shepard.

Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

Re-watched (for the ump-teenth time) Point Break (1991) last night. Bohdi and Johnny Utah are two of the best characters ever to grace the screen, IMO! Even with Keanu's sub-par acting, this has always been one of my favorite "guilty pleasure" movies. If you've never seen it, it is worth it for...

    Colossal - Blu-ray Review

Nice review! I also enjoyed Colossal much more than I was expecting to. Might just be a new cult classic.

Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

A 2.6 on IMDB and a 1.6 on Rotten Tomatoes...I'm not surprised it wasn't the greatest. ;) I'm sorry you had to go through that.... :)

    Stephen King‘s "IT"

I'd agree with you there, but I have to add The Mist. Although not as critically acclaimed, it is my personal favorite. The Langoliers...now that was just horrible!

    Blade Runner 2049

I recently re-watched the original and the "Director's Cut" (which is sans Harrison Ford's VO). IMO, it still holds up quite well for a 35 year old sci-fi movie. Really, that can't be said about too many sci-fi movies from that era. There's Blade Runner, Alien, and......??? I am very much...

    Stephen King‘s "IT"

LOVED the book and have probably read it 3-4 times. The made-for-TV mini-series was a BIG disappointment for me. Here's hoping this movie actually does the book justice...BUT, looking back at the track record of "Stephen King books made into *quality* movies", I'm not keeping my hopes up too...
