I figured it out. Needed to set file permissions. chmod +x ~/Downloads/REW_linux_no_jre_5_40_beta_20-api.sh

Hello, I am trying to replicate this set-up but can't get REW to install. The only version of REW that I could find that matched the description was "Linux no JRE" on the REW API beta Forum page. Any thoughts on what is wrong?
