Movie/TV sound versus music sound from same AVR.

Well, I finally found the solution. After a ton of back-and-forth fiddling and adjustment, I figuired out that the AVR of course offers adjustment of all channel levels, but has a separate channel level adjustment in each mode called "Subwoofer". Here's the thing: In any movie modes, the...

Movie/TV sound versus music sound from same AVR.

I think that's the hurdle I have to overcome. My AVR seems to do global channel levels. So if I crank the subs for music, I have to reduce then back for movies. Unfortunately, Denon took a step backwards and made it so you have to go 3-5 layers deep in menus to do so.

Are you saying the sub may run 10dB hotter in movie/TV mode, even though when I run the level test, I set all channels to the same level (75dB)? I remember that being a thing with the way REW measures (still not exaclty sure what it meant), but I thought using the internal AVR test tones...

Movie/TV sound versus music sound from same AVR.

Thank you for doing such a deep dive on this! As I read it, that adjustment allows me to match my input gains per source so that the volume remains somewhat constant when switching between sources. ie.e so I don;t get blown out of the room if I switch from a "cold" (low-voltage line-level)...

Movie/TV sound versus music sound from same AVR.

I might be able to do that with some Y-splitters, but I thought that was supposed to happen when setting the speakers to LFE+MAIN mode. If it matters, I run the crossover a little high to get some more signal to the subs via the LFE out. (?) I have definitely noticed the variation of mixes...

Movie/TV sound versus music sound from same AVR.

MODS: I'm sure this has been covered, but my searches do not bring me to a thread that I can refer to. If there is a definitive one that covers this question, please close this post and I'll head there! My system consists of a Denon AVR-X4000 feeding a MINIDSP into a 2-channel amp. The amp...

    Need some EQ help

I tried convolution before when playing with Equalizer APO (and I think JRiver has it, too). I'll take a look into how it works with this little DSP unit. My schedule only lets me play around once ever month to month-and-a-half. Will post here if it works. Thanks!

    Need some EQ help

Do you think that will help with the "megaphone honk" I hear? I'm using a DSPB-KE. I'm still learning, but I don't think I can export anyhthing useful from REW to plug in (like I can with my MINDSPs), but I can manually enter a seemingly unlimited number of parametric bands (Freq, Q...

    Need some EQ help

The setup is off-centre on a long wall of a rectangular room. The right speaker is about 22" from the side wall and 6" from the wall behind it. The left speaker is about 42" from the side wall and 6" from the wall behind it. I ran a test on them in the center of my basement (one at a time) after...

    Need some EQ help

I THINK this is the file you are looking for? I simply saved all measurements with the name Linaeum.

    Need some EQ help

Hello all. Looking for some ideas on the best way to tackle this one. Story: I got a set of Linaeum-tweeter based bookshelf speakers. Refoamed them, checked x-over, did the "port mod" and the "capactior" mod that are highly recommended. I really like the sound of them, but they seem to have a...

    Wireless sub latency

Thank you all, for the responses. I'll look into the impulse and scope info in that link, John. A thought popped into my head: Would I be able to do it by using a plain loop-back connector for one test, and then connecting the wireless adapter as a loop-back for a second test, then comparing...

    Wireless sub latency

Is it possible to test latency of a wireless sub adapter using REW? Long story: Toying with the idea of a wireless adapter for a sub for a simple, inexpensive 2-channel setup in my office (no DSP), and wondering how much better the $200 units are than the $30 units that claim low latency. Would...

Setting up a graphic EQ with REW

Thank you for the reply! I did 12 because I'm used to 10-band EQs, and 12 is more, lol. I did another that is 6 b/c the DSP device was being finicky. Here is the graph of the sweep I took of the speaker, from about 12" in front of it. Not properly set up for testing, I just wanted to learn, and...
