I'm researching for a new Windows based 17" screen sized laptop. I want to make sure it's completely compatible with REW. I know practically all are, but as long as I'm buying new I have many options. I know I want to make sure it has HDMI out, USB's, etc... A primary question, and this is most important to me. What is the most useful and pleasing screen resolution to view REW? I can select from 1920x1080, 2560x1640, etc... I want to make sure REW is scaled properly in the laptops native resolution. Besides that, all other hardware and software recommendations and tips are appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom

Display resolution doesn't matter too much as long as the effective resolution (native/scale factor) isn't too low (preferably not less than 1280H), which shouldn't be an issue with a 17" screen. REW can scale fonts to suit:

Thanks, appreciate the information. So, i need to decide how high a resolution i want on a 17” screen. Right now I have a 13” laptop with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. I think it’s a bit much for a small screen. I find having to raise the global font size by 200%, and some software doesn’t like it very much. Maybe with a 17” screen it wouldn’t be necessary. I think having the right ratio resolution for screen size and running at all native settings is best. I probably need to go to a store to experience the different resolution 17” laptops. I’m pleased that with REW it doesn’t matter. I think what matter's is what I’m comfortable with. I want to make sure the whole program fits on the screen and fonts are not too big or small In the native resolution.

I have had very good experiences with Asus laptops and desksides as well as Apple MacBooks... If you plan on using your laptop to play music to a streamer or external DAC I would recommend SSD over a rotating disk for your local storage... Much faster and less noise...

I have a question please?
I'm expecting the new Windows 11 laptop in a week or so. Before I install REW and UMIK mic for the first time. I imagine on a new system there are things I should change or turn off, especially with the internal sound settings? I guess I'm looking for a pre-install and list of things to do?
Or, just turn it on and go for it!?
