I am looking to do the following if it is possible....

Pc usb 2.0 from pc to smsl dac to play back the sweep file. Will rew output the sweep to what is considered the default output device? I am not a windows person (unix admin for 31 years). I will be using windows 11 with a 25 foot usb data cable between the pc and dac (usb 2.0). I am completely in the dark here as to what I can and cannot do with this os and app.

Was an analog guy for 40 years and recently got into digital via roon. I have no hifi cd player so that's not an option for me.

What type of cable? Standard USB2 passive connection is limited to some 5 meters with a good cable.

Yes. You can also select the specific output device from within REW.

Do you play files using this dac and Roon already? I ask because REW has a way to use measurement files that can play played in Roon and then REW and mic will just record the measurement output from the speakers.

Yes I do use the dac with roon, but with a ropieee endpoint feeding the dac.

The endpoint does not matter... In fact if you create a .wav file with a timing reference using the generator function, as @JStewart suggests above, you can transfer the .wav file to Roon and play it through your entire signal chain without having the computer connected to your kit...
Then you just use REW to capture the played signal sweep with a mic... RTFM... Lol...
