Couple shots of my new/old RBH 1044-SE that I picked up today for $250.
Been watching these on a local classifieds ( I think they were listed for $600.00 when I first saw them), made an offer of $325 weeks ago. Owner dropped to $250 last week and after mulling it over for a week I thought, why not? I doubt you could find a better pair of speakers for $250. Will play with and enjoy them for a while but will likely re-sell.

They do sound great. Only thing that struck me was how tiny they are. 6-3/4" W x 42" H x 15-1/2" D and 58 lbs. seems like they are pretty good sized but when I first saw them I could not believe how small they were. Guess I'm just used to the 1266-SE at 8-3/4" W x 48" H x 16-1/2" D and 79 lbs. doesn't sound like a big difference but it's huge.

The price on those is crazy low! Did you demo before forking over the cash? Or just pay and pray, so to speak?

Oh yeah, the guy has quite the set up and had about 15 pr. of speakers for sale (maybe more as I lost track), all hooked up and ready to demo. Wasn't too worried about a demo, as long as all the drivers were working, as I'm pretty familiar with RBH stuff. I knew they would sound good as long as they were original and in working condition. He also had a number of amps, receivers and CD players. Like a pr. of AR-2A, Advent Legacy, KLH Model 5, Denon DVD 2200, RBH 812, and a bunch of vintage stuff from Sansui, Wharfedale, Marantz, Teac, Technics, Pioneer, Sherwood, Carver, Kenwood and others that I can't remember the model numbers of. He was quite the character, probably talked for 45 minutes or so.

It's always interesting showing up at someone's home for a buy like that... my other passion/hobby has led me on some pretty interesting journeys, showing up at someone's home with a wad a cash. I've never done it for stereo equipment, tho. I sold some speakers once... but no demo was involved.

It's not AV gear, but it is part of the equipment I'm going to need to properly mill the lumber for my diffusor panels!

Many of you don't know have a new hobby sawing lumber. I have access to a Cooksawmill MP32. It will cut up to a 26" log & up to 16 ft long. I have quite a bit of Cedar, Red Oak, Laurel Oak, Hickory & Slash Pine so far. I have it stacked and drying. The Cedar is ready to mill now and I have people wanting me to build them different pieces of furniture. My first sale was two 31/2" x 24" x 16ft boards (mirror image grain) for a guy wanting to build a table for his wife. Those boards were massive. You don't realize how heavy green lumber is till you have to move it!
A jointer is a must. Got this one from a guy in Panama City that bought it for a job and didn't need it anymore. Got if for < 1/2 price and it's basically brand new! My next purchase will be a 15" planer (that will set me back around $1300.00 if I can't get a deal on a used one). I'll be set up then. I'll try and post some more pics of the milling soon.

I got into this when a neighbors Cedar Tree fell in a storm and he gave it to me. It is really cool to see those boards coming off a log! And now that people know I'm doing it, orders for different things are coming in faster than I can get them ready. Haven't done any furniture yet, but plenty of form boards for a guy that has a concrete business. And the Dr. that lets me work at his farm (his caretaker at the farm is the guy that owns the sawmill) wants all the lumber to build a barn out there. It will be 30 ft X 30 ft. I'm sawing that project now. Cutting 6" X 6" timbers for the poles (will have them pressure treated). Going to make all the trusses on site + what ever else he will want to add on (like a loft, etc). Going to be a barn raising soon!

Not yet but soon, I have 2 stacks of lumber (4 ft x 6 x 16 ft) with various length boards drying now. Still adding to it to finish the cut list for the shop. It will have to dry another year or so. Pine just gums everything up if you don't let it dry long enough. I do have some 1x4's that look to be dry enough. I'm going to try to plane them soon for my acoustic panels.

15 amp dual miter, sliding compound Miter Saw
Router and Table
3 HP Grizzly Jointer
2 HP 21 gallon air compressor
Freeman Professional Nail gun set (all 4 sizes + case)
A multitude of hand tools
