I've never been a drinker, but I have friends that have been all their lives. While they are my age and some younger, yet they look older. I think it ages your body quicker. They might need a label for that, too.

Now that you mention it, I also have noticed that folks who drink and smoke, definately look older. Risks for sure!

Lol... Of all the things to warn us about... What about the shots... What about the food additives... What about big pharma and big agra... Just hope Robert F. Kennedy Jr. can set this stuff straight... Some folks need a place in GITMO!!!

Just about everything we consume has toxins. Even what we touch from the various plastics to metals etc.

Yeah... true... it is somewhat odd that they pick and choose the labels. However, I eventually got a COVID-19 shot, and I was handed a sheet listing some warnings I had to read before taking the shot. Coincidentally, I never took the follow-up shot, and last year, my wife and I both supposedly had it, or so the tests showed positive, and we both had the symptoms (the loss of smell was a first for me). I also see all kinds of warnings handed out with prescription drugs, as well as with Agra products, which have warning labels.

Might not hurt for a some folks to take a few weeks vacation at Guantanamo.

Warning labels for cancer is a joke. And not the funny kind.

Alcohol use disorder is a serious problem in this country with 10s of millions having the disease and way many more also suffering the consequences.

Here’s a definition of AUD:
“Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a medical condition characterized by an impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational, or health consequences. It encompasses the conditions that some people refer to as alcohol abuse, alcohol dependence, alcohol addiction, and the colloquial term, alcoholism. Considered a brain disorder, AUD can be mild, moderate, or severe. Lasting changes in the brain caused by alcohol misuse perpetuate AUD and make individuals vulnerable to relapse. The good news is that no matter how severe the problem may seem, evidence-based treatment with behavioral therapies, mutual-support groups, and/or medications can help people with AUD achieve and maintain recovery. National surveys show that millions of Americans have AUD.”

And a demographic breakdown of the 29 million afflicted can be found here.

The cost to families is beyond calculation.

The financial cost to society is also staggering. Estimates from this 2021 study in the National Library of Medicine estimate the cost at between 1.5% and 2.6% of GDP. At the low end, that’s 400Billion is the US.

I like a good bourbon and or a drink at gathering, but if it was banned tomorrow I’d be on board in a minute.

I am thankful that I never acquired a taste for anything with alcoholic beverages.

However, I have paid the consequences of smoking pot for 20 years... now quit for over 20 years - cold turkey, no meds, no treatments, and no support groups, just a real willpower to want to quit. It was much easier than I thought it would be. The memory damage I did is irreversible, and I'm sure whatever damage I did to my lungs is done and may end up costing me a few years of my life; that is, Lord willing, I live long enough to find out.

I've witnessed alcohol, drugs, and gambling as the root cause of breaking many families apart and causing early retirement of life in some cases, whether it be physical disease, overdose, suicide, or killing. I fully believe it will take more than warnings to make a dent in stopping it.

awareness is key. Smoking was big prior to the 70s but then warningss came out and smoking over time decreased, it hasn't stop but at least it isn't as high as it's peak. Now, with alcohol warning, similar actions will happen, it will not stop like during the prohibition era but it may slow down. Younger generations are not drinking as much as older generations so time will tell.

Unfortunately, just about everything has some type of toxin, to what level is the question.

Lots of news about forever chemicals that the body can't break down causing health issues as an example.
