Hi all, I think my max budget for a subwoofer upgrade is about $1000.
My current sub setup is 2x Pioneer SW-8MKS. After a lot of research and tests in my room I know that I need at least 2x subs to fill the dips in the room acoustics. So, I need the best sub for max $500 since I am buying 2x (I don't want to get 1x big sub, I prefer 2x matching ones).

So, I am in doubt between those three subs that have amazing reviews:
- Monoprice Monolith 10
- RSL Speedwoofer 10
- SVS PB-1000
- HSU VTF-2 MK5

As you can see I am inclined to get ported since I am 90% or more movies over music in my setup and I want deeper subs for movies special effects.
I am also quite inclined on the SVS mainly because of the warranties and other benefits like that, but I am willing to change my mind in case of obvious benefits on the other models.

Any suggestions? Any comparison between those three?

Thanks!

I am in about the same situation and looking at similar options. Unfortunately, no responses to your question. Left to my own initiative I will likely go with the RSL option because it is the least expensive and has rec'd good reviews. I understand your point on the warranty with SVS however and that would likely be my 2nd choice, maybe the SB-1000. I actually believe that the Hsu is the "best" sub of your alternatives but I don't want to deal with the setup and box size plus a bit more expensive. Have you decided ?

Hi Coy,

I did a lot of research and got two PB1000s for the free 45 day trial and I loved it. So, while I was on the trial they went on a 1 day flash sale for presidents day and SVS refunded me the difference under the price match guaranteed policy they offer right away!

In the end, not just they impressed me sound wise (as expected for such a famous brand) but their customer support and sales policy was exceptional, and for me that has a lot of value. And with the sale discount and free shipping it was the cheapest of them all!

In summary, I am pretty sure HSU and RSL also sounds amazing, but I am super happy with my SVS’s and their customer service :)

You can't go wrong with SVS, PSA, HSU, RSL, Chane, etc. I've dealt with SVS and PSA before, and they both have excellent customer service.

Great choice in the end on the SVS subs! If you do decide to give the RSLs a try I can HIGHLY recommend them. My theater is actually running an SVS PB2000 and RSL Speedwoofer (due to space constraints) and they blend seamlessly together : ) The RSL keeps up with the PB2000 without breaking a sweat!
