I purchased some sub plans from Joseph Crowe and noticed he made a video comparing mics, and thought i would share. In addition the Audiophilliac made a video about mics, and as I recall he said the Mics are why we will never have a sounds like the band is really in your room. I am trying to find the review (it was ins

I wonder if he was talking about the mics used in the original recording process or in the room correction process... How many folks here are using mics and preamps for room correction that are in the same class as what is used in the top end professional recording studios... I remember the first time I saw the mic that came with a Yamaha receiver for room correction so many years ago and giggling to myself...

I guess I am just lucky to have a kit that does pull off the illusion of being in a live venue... As long as the recording is of top quality...

I sent a message to the audiophiliac to get the link. Now Joseph Crowe is def talking about the mics for tuning, as he says which one he is purchasing for measuring his speaker designs. What surprised me is that the mics 90% use has a lot of distortion. The mic he is now using...I was unable to find any price on it...just that he said it was expensive. The Shure surprised me and I am tempted to move away from the one I am using and get it due to the much lower distortion. To me it makes sense to have the lowest possible distortion when tuning...otherwise how can you get the last detail out when they are covered by distortion.
