Mcintosh just released a new monoblock amp that's capable of driving any load at 600watts. The MC611 looks like a solid winner other than its sticker price at $7500US

I love Mac gear. I grew up near their headquarters and would visit Audio Classics nearly weekly for a while. I heard every Mac product ever made for a while and learned to appreciate their sound and build quality. Their amps are awesome. About as bullet proof as it gets. I just wish they weren’t so expensive.

Absolutely. I don’t spite it’s cost in the slightest. It’s worth every penny. I just can’t afford it.

What struck me most about my time at Audio Classics was that the Mac gear just kept working decade after decade. They had many functional amps that were dating back to the 40’s. Mainstream brands that sold in far higher numbers were not so common. The two products they carried the most of was amaranth and Mac. They loved vintage from either. Vintage Marantz was rare because of more common major part failures. They were nice but not as nice and it showed through longevity.

How were Bob Carvers amps? I don't hear much about them any more but back in the 80s and 90s they were well liked and many people had models dating back to the early 70s still going strong
