(January 1, 2018) M&K Sound recently announced the first “true update” to its popular M&K S150 speakers, tapping high-level design elements found on the company’s newly redesigned S300 models. The all-new Miller & Kreisel S150 Series include Bookshelf, Tripole Surround, In-Wall, and On-Wall models. The company is set to premier the speakers at CES 2018 with special demonstrations held by its US distributor (Audio Gear Group) at The Venetian (Room 29-320).

M&K says the new S150 Series is engineered to project a “transparent soundstage,” loaded with “three-dimensionality, body, weight, and emotional impact.” That sound is anchored by a new 5.25” woofer design carrying aluminum rings and an extra-stiff fiberglass cone for reduced distortion at high volume levels. The woofers also utilize a vented pole piece and voice coil for low compression performance.

High frequencies are handled by new Danish-designed 28mm soft dome tweeters mounted on a one-piece heavy duty cast aluminum Triple Tweeter Array plate. The tweeters feature vented voice coils for high power handling, along with a resonance-damped magnet system for precise control of transients. An integrated waveguide lends to a wide dispersion of smooth high frequencies across a wide listening area.

S150 driver arrays are managed by an all-new phase-focused crossover network with proprietary interconnect cables. M&K says the crossover is optimized for “low crossover points and transient control.”

Look for S150 speakers to begin shipping to dealers during February 2018. Pricing has yet to be announced.
