(January 20, 2022) Time for a trip into audio realms that most wallets dare not venture, thanks to the official reveal of Luxman's latest no-compromise power amp design. Locked and loaded with the company's new LIFES1.0 circuit technology, the M-10X is tagged with a relatively robust price tag of $19,995.
This is Luxman's first new flagship amp in nine years, replacing the M-900u and the company's fourth iteration of its Only Distortion Negative Feedback (ODNF) circuit. Luxman's latest take on reducing distortion through negative feedback is called the Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System or LIFES1.0. Using dedicated software to simulate electronic performance across the entire circuit, Luxman engineers were able to simulate alternative layouts and closely inspect the contributions of individual circuit components. The company says the resulting circuit benefits from three essential advances:
- To substantially upgrade the detection of distortion, Luxman engineers selected a Field Effect Transistor (FET) with unusually high transconductance (gm) and a different polarity in the primary stage. This not only improves sound quality but also reduces the number of parallel circuit elements. The result is a unique balance of low distortion and exceptional musicality.
- Luxman engineers redesigned the constant voltage circuit with new, high-performance regulator chips and carefully selected Zener diodes manufactured by Vishay in the United States. The team adopted a highly regulated power supply circuit that resists load fluctuations, even under duress.
- For the most stable operation under all thermal conditions, the M-10X employs a new configuration of high-precision fixed-resistance components in the current mirror constant current circuit.
The M-10X's exterior features a blasted white finished aluminum adorned with the analog nature of incandescent-toned LEDs, needle meters, and function switches. Luxman says the left channel meter was repositioned to the center of the faceplate as a respectful nod to BTL mode monaural listening. Looks, however, only tell part of the story, as the entire chassis mimics the heft of its output capabilities with a notable weight of 107 lbs.
Look for the Luxman M-10X to hit store shelves this February. For more information visit luxmanamerica.com.
