(June 8, 2026) SVS has officially launched Auto EQ for its R|Evolution Series subwoofers, bringing automated room correction to the company's flagship low-frequency lineup through a free over-the-air software update. Available now in the SVS Subwoofer Control App, the feature optimizes bass performance for individual rooms without requiring manual tuning or specialized calibration tools.
Compatible with the 17-Ultra R|Evolution, 5000 R|Evolution, and 3000 R|Evolution models, SVS Auto EQ uses a smartphone's built-in microphone or an optional external measurement mic to capture room measurements. Guided by step-by-step instructions within the app, users can complete the calibration process in just a few minutes without requiring specialized software or advanced setup knowledge. Support for the recently introduced 3000 Micro R|Evolution is expected within the next month.
According to SVS, Auto EQ is designed to smooth a frequency response, optimize room gain, reduce bass localization, and minimize peaks and nulls that can plague perceived low-frequency performance. The system can also evaluate multiple listening positions, with before-and-after measurements displayed within the app so users can visualize the impact of the calibration process.
The timing of the release is noteworthy. Room correction technologies have become increasingly common in AV receivers and processors, but dedicated subwoofer correction integrated directly into a sub itself remains relatively uncommon. For users running two-channel systems without processor-based room correction, or home theater enthusiasts seeking another layer of optimization, Auto EQ has the potential to make high-performance bass more accessible.

SVS Auto EQ is available now as a free over-the-air update through the SVS Subwoofer Control App for 17-Ultra R|Evolution, 5000 R|Evolution, and 3000 R|Evolution subwoofers. The optional SVS Auto EQ Mic is available separately for $45.
