from yahoo,

A technology called automatic content recognition, or ACR, attempts to identify every show you play—including those you get via cable, over-the-air broadcasts, streaming services, and even DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The data is transmitted to the TV maker, one of its business partners, or both.
ACR helps the TV recommend other shows you might want to watch. But the data can also used for targeting ads to you and your family, and for other marketing purposes. You can’t easily review or delete this data later.
To get details on how to turn off ACR for Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku based, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio TV, see yahoo link above.

Interesting you can't turn off 'what you watch' snooping on Vizio...despite the 'option' to do that.

Ridiculous that we pay for these TVs, and once they get in our homes, the manufacturers farm and sell data captured by the TVs. :paddle:

In the end, it is all about data mining and by knowing what we, the consumer, watches, they (manufacturer as well as other 3rd party business) can gear what they sell to us to get the $$$$ from our pockets. :)

That's why I refuse to use Chrome as a browser! If you want a Chrome based browser then use Brave as it has ad and tracker blocking built in.
