HIFMAN Set to Bring New Sundara Planar Headphone to CanJam NYC 2018
(HIFIMAN)(February 3, 2018) HIFIMAN has announced a new over-ear Planar Magnetic headphone called Sundara. Priced at a wallet-friendly $499 MSRP, the headphone is available for purchase now and will make a demo appearance at CanJam NYC 2018 (February 17-18, New York Marriot Marquis).
Sundara carries an all-new proprietary diaphragm that’s 80% thinner than anything found on HIFIMAN’s previous Planar designs. That thinness is intended to translate into a faster response time, wider frequency response, and – ultimately – tremendous sonic detail. Overall frequency response is specified to be an impressively expansive 6Hz-75kHz (37 ohms).

The headphone’s gorgeous physical aesthetics include all-aluminum swivel ear enclosures that lend to a lightweight feel on the head (roughly 13 ounces). And a new “hybrid” headband design helps to disperse weight while maintaining the headphone’s stylish rounded lines.
Sundara offers users only one connection option: a split 3.5mm cable with a stereo adapter.
