(September 8, 2021) Focal has expanded its speaker offerings with several new models, giving enthusiasts access to fresh takes on discrete, on-wall performance and traditional full-range speakers.
On the heels of releasing its 1000 Series of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers earlier this year, Focal’s design team has turned its attention to hybrid speakers that mount directly to a surface. The On Wall 301 and On Wall 302 are both wall hanging designs, crafted to look great and easily integrate into a room.
Measuring 31.5” H x 6.13” W x 3.56” D, the On Wall 301 is sized to match TV screens up to 60" diagonal. With dual 4” Flax mid-bass drivers, a single Aluminum/Magnesium TNF tweeter, and dual bass-reflex ports, the 301's frequency response ranges from 53Hz to 28kHz (87dB, 8 ohms). The On Wall 302 offers more cabinet length (49.19” H) and two additional 4” drivers, making it a perfect match for televisions larger than 60”. With its size and larger driver array, the 302 pushes low-end output down to 50Hz while upping sensitive to 91dB.
Both the 301 and 302 can be mounted on an accessory stand (sold in pairs) and are compatible with Focal’s 300 Series built-in, Flax Dome, and Aria speakers. Available colors include black and white, and because they weigh 13lbs and 20.72lbs, respectively, they’re easy to manage for installation.
Focals Aria K2 speaker series is a special edition of the company’s original higher-end Aria 900 range launched eight years ago. It’s headlined by the Aria K2 936, a three-way tower design endowed with a T-M-W-W-W array. The speaker’s TNF tweeter features a Poron suspension and a urethane tweeter plate with a waveguide for improved horizontal directivity and imaging. And while both the mid-range driver and woofer are 6.5” in diameter, the woofer boasts an aramid fiber sandwich cone for high power handling. Dual front-firing bass ports compliment the woofers for extension to 39Hz (92dB, 8 ohms).
The 936’s cabinet is crafted from rigid MDF and features non-parallel sides, eliminating unwanted vibrations and fostering sonic neutrality. An aluminum alloy base, a baffle finished with a leather effect, yellow-colored drivers, and an Ash Grey finish previously reserved for Focal’s Utopia III EVO range complete an attractive physical package.
The all-new Aria K2 906 bookshelf and Aria K2 Center sonically match the 936, giving owners the ability to enjoy an authentic surround sound experience. Both speakers are ported (906 on the front, Center on the rear) for low distortion, and carry 6.5” midrange drivers.
Focal's On Wall 301 ($1980/pair), On Wall 302 ($2980/pair), and On Wall Stand ($490/pair) are scheduled to begin shipping this month. The Aria K2 models should arrive later this month, with suggested MSRPs of $5,990 (Aria K2 936), $1.990 per pair (Aria K2 906), and $1190 (Aria K2 Center).
