(January 18, 2021) Priced at $599, Denon’s all-new Home Sound Bar 550 brings a range of technology and flexibility to the table, wrapped in a package that’s easy to integrate and use.

The bones of the Sound Bar 550 (25.95” W x 3” H x 4.72” D) are impressive, built around a six-driver array complete with a trio of passive radiators for improved bass performance. While capable of natively delivering a 3D sound experience when fed Dolby Atmos and DTS:X source material, the 550’s multi-channel muscle can be expanded using other wireless Denon Home Speakers (including the Denon Home 150, 250, 350). And if bass is important to your media experience, the DSW-1H wireless subwoofer can be integrated for an extra bump to the low end.

The 550’s wireless prowess is further enhanced by HEOS Built-in, which delivers app-based control of streaming services (such as Spotify, Amazon Music HD, and TIDAL) and the ability to link the 550 to a whole-home or multi-room HEOS wireless music system. Additionally, playback of favorite music tracks from preferred devices is possible using Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, or Bluetooth.

“Denon has developed a well-deserved reputation as a leader in high-fidelity music and home theater reproduction throughout its 110-year history. Our goal with the Denon Home Sound Bar 550 was to create a great-sounding, easy-to-use sound bar that gives music and movie lovers everything they expect from Denon without the complexity of a component-based system,” said Michael McCole, senior product marketing manager at Sound United. “As with all other Denon products, the Denon Home Sound Bar 550 is Master-tuned and tirelessly designed to provide a simple user experience. It rounds out the Denon Home speaker series by providing a powerful solution that allows listeners to experience top-notch audio for their favorite tunes, movies and TV shows from the heart of their TV room.”

Setup is streamlined with features such as Roku TV Ready certification, eARC (requiring a single HDMI connection), and built-in drivers for Control4, Crestron, URC, and Elan. Once installed, the 550 can be controlled by its remote (included), most TV remotes, the HEOS app, or onboard physical controls. Speaking of onboard controls, the sound bar’s control panel lights up automatically when it senses a hand approaching, making playback control simple in the dark.

Denon will add Amazon Alexa voice control during Spring 2021.
