To steal a phrase from JBrax, this thread is where you can list your favorite Demo Mode movie scenes... do a little homework and add chapters and times! ;-)

Master and Commander Chapter 4, 08:45 - 11:53 (Battle scene)

The Dark Knight Chapter 20, 1:15:12 - 01:22:25 (Your subs will come to life).

The Matrix - Well, just about anything here is demo worthy. But, one that will stand out more is when the helicopter crashes into the building

Iron Man - Chapter 14, 1:45:16 - 1:48:54 - Battle scene between Iron Man and Obediah

All of these are great suggestions.

I'll throw Gravity, Chapter 1, into the mix (especially if you're running Atmos). AWESOME awesome stuff!

That Dark of the Moon material you referenced is some of the best multichannel demo material ever committed to disc. Too bad the movie is a stinker. But for pure sonic 7.1-channel immersion, it doesn't really get any better.

I'll compose my list here soon but that DOM chapter 17 is still my top pick. I'm waiting for a 4K title to take its place. It might be awhile.

While researching I did find a demo worthy site for HD quality video to showcase the picture quality on the TV.

I'm too lazy... just watch Cloverfield and be done with it... it will shake your teeth out if you have the right subs.

Cloverfield is great. Another movie that is just demo worthy is the Lord of the Rings Franchise. Lots of things in the various LOTR movies to keep the visuals as well as sound at the top of their game!

Cosmos Laundromat for HDR. It's CGI but it's incredibly well done! Be forewarned there is one bad word used in it so it's not for the little ones.

I agree Todd. I’d put Passengers at least top 5 of the available 4K releases for demo worthy material. Breathtaking video as well.

The scene of them watching the sun/star was a popular video clip at CEDIA. Truly is amazing.

The film is loaded with lots of opportunities to show off black levels... skin tones. Really is Reference!

Ok it has been since October since anyone posted anything. I'm in a movie rut, any recommendations on some demo worthy movie scenes?

I watched two recently that I liked quite a bit for the visuals and sound. I won't comment on the movie too much.

Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets. I didn't pay enough attention to the scenes and rented the movie, so I will have to update this. The entire movie is visually beautiful, the effects are modern, clean, bright, and in your face. I really loved the sound and visuals of the movie.

Blade Runner 2049: The opening Scene had some intense bass effects. Now i will admit that I had the bass turned up pretty hot. The bass was so intense that it not only shook everything in the room, but my wife said the floor above the sound proof theater (so 3 layers of drywall, green glue, isolation clips, insulation, and T&G plus carpet) was shaking violently and scaring my child. A friend of mine who frequents this forum referred to me as evil dad. It was also good demo for black levels and shadow detail. A lot of the dark scenes were hard to see with my setup, as the JVC (especially the older ones) tend to crush black levels.

Yes.

My experience with anything beyond 7.x has only be with other peoples setups. I've setup 5-6 Atmos systems at this point and spent a good amount of time with them, but it hasn't trickled into my own system.

For multi-channel, it's hard to go wrong with 3:10 to Yuma, and the city battle scene in Transformers Dark/Moon.

Definitely checkout Baby Driver... and I just watch Only the Brave which had a fantastic 5.1 encode (not to mention being a great/emotional flick).

I own the transformers movie for just the reason you mention, but haven't watched it in a while. As you said earlier, it is not a very good movie (but I'm ok with that, it's still a lot of fun to watch).
