(October 30, 2017) Capital Audiofest 2017 will open its doors this Friday (November 3rd) for a three-day audio extravaganza. Now entering its eighth year, the show is the largest AV event in the greater Mid-Atlantic region, and this looks to be the event’s best year yet.

The 2016 installment of Capital Audiofest (CAF) was a solid affair, featuring loads of hi-tech gear, finely tuned demo rooms, and quite a few returning favorites from years past. This year, show organizer Gary Gill has decided to return to the same location (Rockville Hilton, Rockville, MD), which provides easy access to Metro and two of the D.C. area’s larger roadways. And it goes without mentioning that the Hilton’s facilities make for an excellent show environment.

According to CAF, last year’s show featured vendors spaced across 48 rooms on two levels of the hotel. This year, the event says it has grown to 60 rooms on three different levels. Show goers can expect to see and hear products from the likes of VPI, MartinLogan, Daedalus Audio, Classic Audio, PASS, GT Audio Works, Technics, and more. In addition, fans of personal audio will enjoy the “CanMania” headphones event, which is making a return to the Plaza ballroom and several designated quiet rooms.

Show goers will also have access to a thriving marketplace where vinyl, analog gear, and other AV accessories will be for sale; a host of educational presentations, live music, and local distillery tastings will also be offered.

Tickets to the event cost $20 per day or $30 for the weekend. Students and active duty military personnel are eligible for free admission. For more information, including a complete listing of vendors, visit www.capitalaudiofest.com.

I’m in the DC area nearly Monthly for work. I was actually supposed to be in DC for a meeting on the 4th but was asked last minute to join remotely instead of in person. I’m disappointed I will miss this! Maybe next year I can try to find a work excuse to be in DC that week.
