I loved reading the evaluation the guys did on floor standing speakers under $1200 back in 2017.

I'm wondering if Sonnie and Wayne have thought about a similar evaluation of bookshelf speakers (say under $500)?
There are some brilliant designers out there who are putting a lot of effort into amazing bookshelf speakers.
I've done a fair bit of searching, but there's very few reliable evaluations/ comparisons of bookshelf speakers.

I have to admit that I have a selfish interest in bookshelf speakers, as we are downsizing our house, and I will be leaving my existing home theatre fully equipped, and will probably have to convert a small bedroom in the new house into my home theatre.

I don't know how many monitor speakers (don't put speakers on bookshelves, please!) Sonnie and Wayne have experience with but I've been doing monitor/subwoofer systems for decades. We've talked about a monitor evaluation a few times, but bass augmentation is a consideration and has held us back from this, to a degree.

I agree - "Monitor" speakers should be correctly listed as "Stand-mount" speakers.
Most monitor speakers are designed for Near Field listening, and are usually powered.
I was just after typical stand-mounted speakers for stereo and home theatre use.

Apart from the early years:rolleyes:, I've always listened to home designed and built stand-mount speakers coupled with a sub.
The new setup will be a similar configuration, except that, given the current standard of speakers on the market, I am going to concede defeat and buy off the shelf.

An evaluation of monitors would be fun. I'll keep bringing it up to the group. ;)

Old people often need constant pushing :-
"I told you I will do it. Just don't keep reminding me every couple of months".

Actually any testing would have to be without a sub, as I think it would take too much time integrating each test set with a sub.
