best xlr amp for18in ported sub set

for driving a set of Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4 18" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 ohm in a ported cabinets which do you think would be best suited for powering them

either a Crown XLi 2500 750W 2-channel Power Amplifier or the Crown XLS 2502 775W 2-channel Power Amplifier

in a layered ported cabs tuned to 21hz with either 750watts at 4ohm (xli) or 775watt @4ohms (xls) an a 4th order high pass at 16hz from my outlaw audio 976 receiver

with a 44in long 12in wide 2.5in high flair port

the walls of the cab will be 1.5in inner 1.75in port wall an outer wall of 2in thick

with an net ft3 vol of 3.8cft

so with walls this thick an a epoxy resin coat in an out i dont think id need any extra bracing

the inner cab dims would be 35in h by 16.7in w by 12in d

outer dim 38in h by 24in w by 15in (1.5iin front an back panels with a .5in flush cut for the driver)

i plan to build two matching cab an run off

either a Crown XLi 2500 750W 2-channel Power Amplifier or

the Crown XLS 2502 775W 2-channel Power Amplifier

whichever would be better with load an sinad

you thoughts including paint on color

The 2500 is rated down to 4 ohms, while the 2505 is rated to 2 ohms. So I think I’d go with the 2502. It won’t be working as hard at 4 ohms as the 2500 will, which technically means it should last longer.

for the cabs color

I have a system that uses both of those model amps. I love the drivecore amp for my woofers, XLS, and don’t like it for the main speaker. I love the XLI a/b style amp for the mains and find no joy from it when used with the woofers.
go with the drivecore class D amp and make a power cord with bolden wire or buy a Pangea (basic 9 guage one) power cord. Makes a difference.

when you say woofers you mean your sub an the a/b is for your left right center an surround right ,which model are you using of the xls an xli

im currently using a rb 81 II as my center an the PL-89 tower speakers as my fronts my upgrade plan besides just the subs is to use the CCB-8 Bookshelf Speaker from hsu for surround s an a dual center

my current in use amps are the xli 800 for my center or centers an the xls 1502 on my fronts

i was thinkin about going with the XLi 1500 for my fronts an for my surrounds moving the 1502 to the center after getting a set of CCB-8 Bookshelf Speaker from hsu an then later getting another for a 2nd set of CCB-8 for my my side left an right

The woofers are 18” driver H frame open baffle current xover setting 79 hz, they play flat down to 20 hz, so they are subwoofers but not for slam and movie effects, but for articulate bass with great tone… the system is a stereo. I care not one whit about home theater, but I do care about good bass and the drivecore amps deliver much better bass in every way than the XLI class a/b amp... and the XLI sounds better for the rest. That’s all I can and will say. The rest is up to your assessment. All crown amps tend to behave the same across the individual model lines due to being essentially the same design but with different power output, so it is irrelevant which ones I have.
