Hello from Austin TX.
Been a car audio nut off and on since the mid 80's and in the past couple years been experiencing and getting addicted to home audio/video.
I have a multi purpose room and my current set up is..5.1
Sony XBR-75 940d
Yamaha RX-A1050
Dali Zensor 7 towers
Dali Vokal center
Klipsch RP240s
Paradigm PDR-12
I just recently bought the Dali speakers to replace Klipsch RP-280f towers. I feel I'm heading in the right direction trying to find a happy medium for both HT and music. But if many of you are like me....:) soon to buy another set of speakers. Just because we can and we never know what we are missing.

Welcome to AV NIRVANA Bacovish... nice setup you've got there.

I am a car audio nut from the 80's as well... back when we had cassette tapes. Of course the 80's is when the CD came about too. I won best of show with my 88 Nissan King Cab pickup at CKR Automotive in Montgomery, AL in 1988 with a couple of Rockford Fosgate 12's powered with a Hifonics Zeus amp. I remember the judges playing Dirty Diana cranked at about 140db, which was fairly loud back then. Just a few years later they were hitting in the 150's. Too much for me today though.

Hello, and thank you. Glad to be here.

That brings back a lot of memories. Never really got into the competition but my 1990 Mazda truck with a cap had 8-15's I was running Rockford Amps until Phoenix Gold came into the scene with the MS 2150 and 2250. The only good thing about car audio since then is the hobby is a lot cheaper now. Lol. Fwiw. Just installed some Dynaudio separates and Arc amps in my Tahoe. But at least I have downsized to some 10's instead of the 15's. still living large :)

Thanks for the flashback and really great to be here. Looking forward to some great reviews and information for my new journey into home audio.

Welcome Bacovish! Huge Klipsch fan here and just curious what made you upgrade from the 280's? I've not heard them personally but from what I've read in reviews they perform well with music. My guess is they were good for movies and you were looking for better in that regard? I owned rf-82 II's before upgrading to rf-7 II's and the 82's didn't cut it musically. Not the case with the 7's.

Actually love the RP280 for HT. It out performs the Dali for movies. Very dynamic speaker. With my room and set up and my ears I did not like the klipsch for music. At high volumes they were hard on my ears.

The Dali, again for my room etc...music is excellent. At very high volumes they are clear and very detailed. No fatigue at all...but for HT they aren't as dynamic... but are not bad either. For music I can turn up the juice and haven't found that breaking point yet. They have really impressed me so far.

I'm still getting used to the Dali since I have only had them for 2weeks. So I guess I'm just trying to find that happy medium.

I am only a novice in this hobby so different folks might have a differing opinion on my personal view but I can only describe what I hear. I love both of them and still own both of them.
They are side by side right now and thinking about using the Klipsch for HT and the Dali for music. We will see.
Also waiting for the Chane to come back out so soon I'll have a side by side by side comparison. Lol
The wifey will love that I'm sure.

My post was a little misleading after re-reading it. What I meant was the Klipsch were not what you wanted in regards to music. While I've not heard the 280's I did experience the same thing when I owned the rf-82's. They were definitely bright and shrill with some genres in particular Adele! Luckily the rf-7 II's have cured that albeit at a much higher cost. That was my happy medium.

No problem. I think I found what I was looking for also at least for now. I have realized that for multi use HT room there is a lot of give and take for movies but for music we really need speakers that work for us.
Glad you found your happy medium. I do love my klipsch and have no intention on selling them.

Thank you Leonard. Very glad to be here. Just wait a couple days, I'm sure I'll change my set up again. It seems that I am a home A/V hoarder and I don't like to share:)

Welcome Bacovish! Glad you're here..getting in on the ground floor ;-)

I'm a Texan by birth... Wichita Falls... but only spent the first few years of my life there (many moons ago!). Love visiting the state.

Anyhow, looks like you're going to bring a lot to our community.... very cool. See you on the forum!

Welcome aboard Bacovish, always nice to have another enthusiast around. Sounds like you'll be able to help people out with car audio questions. Don't get a lot of inquires, but some. Again, welcome!

Maybe we could start a car audio forum, might generate a bit of interest. Not HT, but not too far removed as you can now vouch for.

Honestly don't know how much I could really help actually. After an exit in car audio for the last 15 years and now getting my feet wet again....a lot has changed with the processing side of it. I need to get more involved with the analyzing(equipment and knowledge) side of things which could help out the processing side....but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night so I'm feeling pretty confident.

Pretty sweet build you did. Bet it sounded great. That's one thing I miss is building something or working with wood. Been thinking about buying a DIY kit to keep me busy.
