Hi!
I’ve been calibrating my denon AVR x2400h for a while and i like the process but i cant understand why the center Chanel on my AVR reads a low setting -4db after it is calibrated and thus the dialog in movies seems to low , am i doing something wrong?
Regards
Mattias

This can happen when there is a large peak in your pre-EQ'd response. Audyssey sets the levels prior to removing the peaks, so sometimes you have to reset the levels with an SPL meter after Audyssey finishes. It is more common in subwoofers, but it can happen with any speaker.

Ok thanks for the Quick answer. When you are saying ”reset” with SPL meter do you mean that i should target for 75db? Also im new to audio Calibration so my Other question is how to set up the SPL meter meaning slow/fast etc

I would check the front left and match the SPL to that speaker... maybe bump it up a couple of dB if you want more dialog. I'm hard of hearing so I have to have it a little louder than most.

So after audessey Calibration should i use the left speaker as a reference to the Other speakers?

You may have to increase the sub at your sub amp if it's not loud enough after calibration.

also, would adjusting the dialog level help any?
> google "denon avr x2400h dialogue settings"

I've read posts from various people not being all that happy with this version of Audyssey not exactly producing a lively stage after the auto cal was done. I had similar experience with a previous Denon 3300 which also had Multi EQ XT. Moving to a Denon that had Multi EQ XT32 made a big difference as far as the quality of the EQ produced - very happy with the XT32 results for 9.1 setup, though it's not perfect and would very much like an amp with the Audyssey editor ability. For some strange reason, the EQ generated for my fronts results in a couple big frequency dips (measured with a proper mic) that are not present with the EQ turned off. Weird.

I would work on speaker placement first to obtain the best soundstage and imaging, then allow Audyssey to improve on it.
