from pocket-lint,

"Apple's next event will be held on 12 September.

The rumour mill seems to think we might get three new iPhones, a new Apple TV, and maybe even a new Apple Watch."

====

I am waiting for the iphone 8 to come out.. My current Iphone 6s is showing it's age so need to update..

Yep, the cost of admission for the 8 is going to set you back $1200 plus. I'm really tempted but I'll probably just hang onto my 7 Plus for another year. Supply and demand is going to be ridiculous and probably drive that sticker price even higher.

My opinion is if you keep your phone for at least a couple years then splurge. If you can afford it anyway. Our phones are much more than a phone anymore. Web surfing, email, bill paying, shopping, texting, remote, and gasp…phone calls. Enjoy life you only live once.

I have had mine since it came out so it is a bit long in the tooth.. It is also showing it's age.. Let me compare the 8 to the 7s and will make a decision.. :)

By the way, should we apply that reasoning to speakers, tv, etc? Live for the moment! lol. :)

Well, everybody's situation is different. We're empty nesters and kids all have degrees. It's our time to enjoy life. Minimal debt, retirement good, and really nothing to spend our money on other than hobbies and entertainment. So yes, why not?

Boy have we gone off topic! A bit of advice that my father passed on to me. Pay yourself before you pay anybody else. If you're paying others more than yourself you've done something wrong. That guy was pretty smart! :T

Good advise.

Now, back to topic..

Hopefully, the iphone 8 will have something to prove it is worth the price.

I will have to get something and hopefully the 8 will be it. :)

OLED screen, wireless charging, and facial recognition. Apple is always behind the competitors when it comes to adding features and specs. BUT, when they do they do it better than the competition. It's always a much more refined user experience.

So, the iPhone 8 is going to do everything a Surface pro does with the exception that the Surface pro doesn't have OLED screen!

Oh boy. Not trying to start a phone war. Android and Apple have their pros and cons. Android always has better features and specs. Apple always has a cleaner user experience. After that the lines blur a bit and it's more about what the consumer is looking for. I'm willing to pay a premium for the overall user experience even if it means being a year or two behind the tech. I'm a tech guy so I also struggle with that philosophy. I've tried Windows, Android, and iOS. For me nothing compares to what Apple provides. YMMV

Only reason I stick to apple is that they have more apps and the apps function better from what I can tell when compared to others. Plus, everybody in the house uses apple so I am stuck with their ecosystem.

Apps function better. EXACTLY, and what I'm looking for on that whole user experience thing. I HATE…no I LOATHE bloatware and android is like nails on a chalkboard for me. My entire ecosystem is all Apple and it just works so well together.

One last thing I'll add. While android has better specs iOS seems to always perform better in speed tests. I like fast and to me time is important.

I am not trying to start a war. I used to be an android user, but I agree the apps work much better with iOS. That's why I switched as well. I currently have the i7 Plus with 256 gb.

Well, pardon me for the erroneous interpretation. We Apple users can be a tad bit defensive.

It will be > $1200 depending on how much storage you want. You'll want 128GB's so my guess is $1300.

My wife's phone and mine are 256 GB, and now I am trying to figure out how to set my UnRaid Server that has 60TB as a cloud server as well.
