Hey everyone. Glad to see so many familiar faces. (Long time forum lurker over at hts). Learned everything I know on forums and glad to be apart of this one.

First I have a reaction audio (RIP) bps 215.. plenty of output all around my house, unfortunately
I have a dilemma with dead spots. The sub if currently in the best spot I've found that's possible for placement and still has a horrible dead zone at the mlp... it sounds worse in the only other option that would make sense for my room..Are wireless options worthy of consideration(I rent and Inwall wiring is a no go, and I really don't want to run wire that far)? I could attempt putting it on the back wall of the house. Should I just buy another sub?

If buying another sub to smooth response is my best option what would be a good match for this sub? I'I'll have to search for stats and edit my post when I find them as all I know is it uses a Dayton sp-500 and two cheap 15 inch drivers.

Welcome to AV NIRVANA Amundo.... glad to have you with us.

You definitely want to get a sub that is going to match up with what you have now, otherwise one could potentially run away from the other one as you increase the volume.

Have you tried adjusting the phase (or adjust the distance in your settings by 3-4ft) and see if it helps with your issue.

I assume you have run REW to determine what frequencies are giving you issues.

Adding another sub may or may not be the answer, it all depends on location. An additional sub can help, but it also needs to be in the correct placement.

There are wireless transmitters available, but they need line of sight to work properly. Something like this might be what you need: https://www.svsound.com/products/dayton-audio-wave-link

I have not run REW yet as I just recently traded my laptop for a glock 19 gen 4 :). I am familiar with the software and will once I have a replacement.

Ive fiddled with settings to no avail. I also don't have audessey so I'm going manual at the moment lol.. the dead zone is literally exactly where my main couch sits. I have the whole front wall for placement but where it sits is where it sounds best. I've tried all along the available wall (sub crawl with roommate), actually moving the sub all along front wall and still have dead spots all around the living area.

I may just wait till I can measure my room and see what the problem boils down to and go from there.

Yeah... gonna be hard to figure it out without some measurements. You could try placing the sub in your listing position and walk around the room to see where it sound best, then try the sub in that location. REW sweeps are better though... I don't trust anyone's ears... they are human.

Front wall is the only thing place? The problem with bass is subwoofer(s) have to be where they gotta be. That might mean moving the listening position or another piece of furniture to facilitate better sound.

Definitely try the sub-crawl (as Sonnie suggests)... and see if you can find a model matching sub. Put some feelers out! ;-) Duals would definitely help you even things out some.

so many opinions as to where to place a sub, the sub crawl as mentioned is a good start but one thing I can say for sure is what works for one person is most likely not the correct placement for another. Corner placement will in many cases give a boost but not necessarily in the right frequency range so there is alot of trial and error involved.

Peaks, if using auto EQ, are much easier to fix than nulls.

...Are wireless options worthy of consideration(I rent and Inwall wiring is a no go, and I really don't want to run wire that far)?...
Hi Amundo,

Hope I'm not too late to comment on this if you are still considering a wireless option.

The best spot I found in my room for my sub was also not the best place to run a cable. After reading several forums that gave opinions on wireless, it seemed to me to be a hit and miss situation. A product that worked well for some didn't work at all for others. I decided to give it a try and purchased a WSK-100 wireless kit from OSD Audio and couldn't get it to work in my room. I returned it and purchased a OAW4 wireless kit from Outlaw Audio and it worked perfectly right out of the box. I ran REW sweeps with a cable connection and with a wireless connection and didn't notice any difference. I haven't tried the Dayton or any other of the wireless sub kits, so I have no opinion on those.

So my experience seems to similar to others, one product worked for me while the other didn't. Here's a link to the OAW4, if you are interested.
