I have bass limited speakers. At low power levels I can apply quite a bit of low bass boost. At higher power levels, this causes distortion. Is there a simple solution to providing more/lower bass boost at low power levels and then smoothly/automatically backing off at higher volumes?

Similar to what I think the MAX98390 does.

Or if not for speaker protection, a similar feature is useful for changes in the ear's sensitivity. But done variably, not with the common on/off loudness.

I've seen this in car audio systems... bass rolls off as the volume increases, but not for home audio.
