Doubts about TTD operation

Hello friends, I have a question that always comes back to me. In a 2.1 Genelec 8020+7050 system, TTD would help to temporarily align the array, but if there is a 5ms delay between the sub and the front, does this fix it?

Or I would have to do external XO filtering (with 3 channels), and apply time stretch to each filter to temporarily align the drivers.

Thanks!

Yes, with almost 100% certainty. As long as the sub and he mains does not cancel each other somewhere in their crossover region.

Hi Bernt,

Thank you for your prompt response, I have been an Acourate user for many years, and I have this friend of mine who is interested in acquiring an AudioLense version 2.0 license. I have calculated the filter for him but he wants to acquire a tool to play with his system.

He left you this previous image, and what I think I'm interpreting. I have marked what I think is the pulse of the gene 8020 and the sub, as far as I can measure there is 0.25ms of delay.

I imagine that this small amount can be solved by TTD and it would not be necessary to do a temporary driver alignment. Having to use 3 output channels.

If he wants time domain correction he needs Audiolense XO. That is what most choose anyway, including those who only aim for a regular stereo correction. If he turns in this direction he can upgrade or downgrade if he changes his mind.

The interaction with the sub will not be a problem here (with Audiolense XO).

Hi Bernt, a question because when the filters are generated one channel is 80 and the other is 80.01hz? I thought it was a bug but I see that it is repeated in all versions. I'm sure you have your explanation. thanks!

If you use the same value, they will use the same bass offloading filter. With different value, each speaker will have it's own dedicated subwoofer correction. This gives better integration between main speakers and driver. Some times the difference is vast, other times it is close to negligible.
