So what are your fears or phobia?

Personally, I don't like heights or deep water (like in a river /lake or ocean when you can't touch and you feel the temp. in the water change)....then there are such things like snakes, large spiders etc. you know...creatures of that kind.

Spiders don't bother me as much as they use to. Before I was in the lawn care business for about 3 years, I feared them greatly. 3 years in lawn care tamed me, cause otherwise I would have wrecked several good mowers. I still don't like black widows.

Snakes... seen and killed plenty of those as well, owning a pond and keep it clean helps, but we still see a few. Then we had the place at Gantt Lake for about 7-8 years. And again, the lawn care business has it's share of snakes. However, I still very much fear snakes... don't care what kind... I don't like them.

Definitely do not like heights... that is probably my worst fear. Lakes, rivers, creeks... no worries there, but I don't like the ocean anymore. It use to be nothing for us to swim out to the sand bar in the Gulf of Mexico... not anymore. Way too many sharks in the waters these days. I doubt I will ever go back into the ocean again. I'd rather go to the mountains anyway, long as I don't have to look over a cliff. :gulp:

As for spiders its the fat legged ones that bother me, tiny spindle legged ones not so much. Anything other than a garden snake...its a no thank you for me. Heights mostly bother me if I don't feel secured or attached ( roller coasters are fine, a very tall water slide no thanks. My water fear is more psychological, had a parent pass away involving water when I was a child.

Heights bother me now, but did not used to. I used to climb trees constantly as a kid. I almost fell off a 350 ft. grain elevator tower, messing around where we did not belong in my teen years with a few friends. You could see two counties away, the view was awe-inspiring. It was fun to climb up there at night and count how many neighboring towns we could count.

Won't catch me going up anything like that, now. I'd still climb a tree, though.

Being inside a buildings basement when the power goes out and it's as black as it gets. Had an emergency generator conk out and had to find my way without a flashlight to restart it. That had my heart pumping!
Love heights, the taller the better but I don't do stupid things to get high. Just high rise rooftops for me. Our company is going to build a 85story luxury hotel/condo tower starting in 2019 and I can't wait to go to the top LOL

I have a fairly healthy fear of sharks...but they don't keep me out of the water. I've gone in plenty of shark rich waters....and have had quite a few encounters with a variety of sharks. Snorkeled all around the Galapagos, BVIs, Napali Coast off Kauai, in the crater off Maui...the Philippines. Sharks are amazing to swim with... but I'm terrified of being stranded in the ocean.

I also have this weird fear of being trapped under rubble or in a enclosed box. That probably tops my list.

I was gonna post enclosed, confined spaces as a fear, too, Todd.

Probably everyone has that fear. a50d3e23fded31ecb3a2698a4ad8dcc3--funny-cat-pictures-funniest-pictures.jpg

Spiders, that's the only thing that I don't handle well. Don't like them, never will. I kill them if they get too close and sometimes even when they don't! I have come to tolerate Banana Spiders a bit since they are easily recognizable and I know they are not poisonous.

Tonto, I once spent a night in a cabin near Steven's Pass (outside of Seattle). The cabin hadn't been used in a while. It had signs of little critters, etc.

When we were ready to hit the sack, we pulled the covers down and several large spiders went scurrying away in the sheets.

:gulp:

Needless to say, the entire bed ended up being stripped and neither my wife or slept very well that night ;-)

3000 Pound Great White Shark caught in Lake Michigan. I would say its time to stay out of the lakes too. Coast Guard says it could account for missing people over the years. YOU THINK:hide:
Not sure if its spoof....didn't check it against snopes.

Shoulda been a landshark!

Us older guys know about them from late night TV back in the 70's!

Think Gilda Radner! If I remember right, a landshark got her!

bull sharks swim into fresh water areas that meet the ocean. I believe it's called brackish?

Bull sharks come into the Chesapeake... and Jaws is based on a true story about Bull Shark that traveled up a NJ river killing several people.

I think Bull Sharks are rather unique in that

Yes, I recall now it was bull sharks and yes its called brackish.

Another interesting thing going on with sharks of late, Hammerheads have been coming into shallow waters as shallow as a couple feet. Apparently studies have shown the shallow warmer water increases the, for lack of a better word, brain activity sensors for hunting/eating. Hence the increase of hammerheads spotted on beaches in a few feet of water hunting sting rays.

At the moment, the 6-foot long very fast black snake in the woods behind our new house.

As long as it stays out of sight, we will let it live to kill vermin and other potentially harmful snakes in the area (like copperheads - saw one of those, too).

Edit: No, black snakes can not fly, but that bugger can sure move fast on the ground! About a 100-foot safety radius is my minimum requirement.

Uh, that is not a place I could live. Just thinking about that thing slithering up on me is enough to freak me out.
