I am very happy with my AV7706. It was working just fine until yesterday. I installed new HDMI 2.1 48 Gbps cables and now the blu ray player (UDP 203) gets automatically selected by the Marantz anytime it is on. It will not let me use any other input. Since Marantz's customer service is closed for the weekend I wonder if anyone could give me some pointers. I did not knowingly change anything to cause this problem. If I turn my blu ray player off then I can select other inputs to the Marantz.

If I select "media player" on the Marantz it switches to "media player" but then immediately switches back to the blu ray input. It won't quit doing that until I turn the blu ray player off.

The new cables upgraded three HDMIs from 18 Gbps to 48 Gbps so I thought it would only improve my eARC. I guess I will have to put the old cables back on (one at a time) and see what happens. My negative experience so far has been with esoteric menu selections like "deep color" affecting the sound. Go figure. Anyway, thanks.

These mysterious issues that I have experienced are all related to the new HTML 2.1 spec . . . well I guess you would call my problems "permissions" since each piece of equipment in series has to be verified as approved for use with the highest speed protocol e.g. a 4K transmission bit rate of 48 Gbps, or in my equipment, to handle Dolby Atmos. To get this all working I had to make sure that the TV, the pro/pro and the Blu Ray player were all configured to handle Dolby Atmos. If only one of the three wasn't set correctly, the other two wouldn't work right. This latest issue was fixed by doing a "factory reset" of my Blu Ray player and then checking the settings as outlined above. (A combination of configuration issues and high-speed cables.) All is well now and I am a happy camper and still learning.

Glad you got it figured out... wow... seems like it could cause some complications if you aren't willing to really dig into it like you did.

Well . . . I found out a better explanation. HDCP 2.2 goes with HDML 2.1. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. If you run your HDMI connection through a home theater receiver or sound bar, it’ll need to be HDCP 2.2 compliant, as well. Any device in the chain that prevents the HDCP digital handshake from happening will prevent you from seeing a 4K image.
