Quick question. Getting new subs in and going to set them up, and I went into my new Yamaha 7850 setup and set the high pass crossovers to 80hz after calibration for the speakers... HOWEVER, there's no option on the sub to change the low pass filter for the sub itself.. It just sets subs to "use" or "not in use". I'm used to turning up the LPF on the sub to max, then adjusting it manually to 80 in the subwoofer section on my Onkyo receiver.

does the Yamaha have a fixed LPF for the sub? or am I just not seeing the option to adjust it.

Not sure I get the question, Michael. Is there some reason to believe the Yamaha’s bass management doesn’t work the same way as the Onkyo?

If you’re asking about the low pass filter for the LFE channel, for the 3 Yamahas I had it was Not configurable. From REW measurements it looked to be the standard 120Hz filter.
It is odd that Yamaha doesn’t put it in the specs as they do for the bass management hi and low pass frequencies and slopes.

What jstewart said. With My old Onkyo I was used to being able to go in and manually adjusting the low pass filter for the LFE channel manually in 10 Hertz increments. I guess Yamaha has a non-user adjustable version set of 120hz

well, I guess it's a moot point last night I upgraded to the 1.92 firmware that came out a few months back and I'm having a weird audio delay when I start up. whether it's my BR-player or my ps4 etc... it takes a good 20 seconds - 5 minutes after the video starts for the receiver to kick in the audio. Happens when it's been stuck on pause for a while and I start up the disc as well. the display doesn't have the 6 channel symbols of the L/C/R/Surrounds and sub on screen, then 20 seconds in it starts. It's weird because I can boot up anything I want, and then when I hit play or whatnot it literally is playing for 20 seconds (sometimes as high as 5 minutes) before the audio drops in and the L/C/R/Surrounds symbols show up on display and then I can play the rest of the movie etc.

I'm ASSUMING this was something due to 1.92 as I never had this issue in the last year and a half until I updated last night. Called Yamaha and they had me reinstall the firmware... not working still. Now the only thing they can do is take it in for repair. *sigh. only good thing was that I got this at costco a year ago, which means costco return policy for the win

EDIT: Yup, time to look for another one. audio stopped completely finally

lol, I only did it because the 7850 had a few quirks which were supposedly fixed in one of the previous updates, so I ran the update and voila. first time I've had a firmware update bork the whole system

now the fun of looking for a new receiver during a chip shortage. I would just get the 2020 version of the Yamaha at Costco like normal but it's buggy as all getout because it has the infamous "wrong hdmi chipset" that plagued a lot of the HDMI 2.1 sets.

looks like Costco has the Denon 750h back in stock... gonna go down to the local center and see if they have one in before I order online... only thing that makes me hesitate is that Denon is using 75 watts rms per channel vs. the 100 of Yamaha. Not sure if I'll amp starve my DIYsoundgroup SEOS speakers (high sensitivity so usually no biggie, but amps/receivers are the weak spot in my home theater knowledge)
