Considering trying the Monolith THX Ultra in walls for rears
There was to be an L3 two way. Have you ruled them out for surrounds in a 5.1.4?
I also think the Monoprice THX in-walls are likely to be a good speaker. The THX Mini-Tower which appears to be using the same drivers has been measured and well reviewed. I always worry about not being able to adjust height or angle with in-walls, but sometimes they're going to be the best choice to fit the layout.

Here are the L3's. I'd love to use those as well but I'm setting this up in our main living room, and even though my wife has very reluctantly said "go ahead with H/T thing", she's gonna go out of her mind when she sees the subs I'm ordering. I never really mentioned two subs sitting in the room as well. Even though they're sealed, to her, they're going to be refrigerators that ruin the decor. So heading this off I'm trying to lesson the evils in the room by having no pedestal/bookshelf speakers sitting around. I'm ripping out our fireplace and completely reconfiguring how the furniture goes and I figure in-walls for the rears and in-ceilings for the Atmos will make at least those six speakers as inconspicuous as possible, all in an attempt to offset the LCR Chane's and two Rythmik G25HP's. (There will be more F-bombs dropped at this unveiling than any Pagans biker rally)

So back to the Monolith THX. I'm thinking as you are with the accolades they've received with their mini towers, these are likely to be pretty decent.

I have high hopes for this L series from Jon. I've been following him for just a couple years, but he seems like a very knowledgeable, methodical, perfectionist and I think he poured his heart into these.

Thanks for the input.
PS: What would you choose between Monolith and Emotiva for a 5 channel power amp?

Oh yeah, here's the L6 as well.

WAF is certainly one of the more powerful forces in the universe.

I'm ripping out our fireplace

Ha. I’m looking at my very seldom used fireplace now having lost that discussion. I live in Florida. Who needs a fireplace in Florida? Can’t really complain though. She’d let me put on an addition or even move, as long as I don’t mess with that fireplace.

What would you choose between Monolith and Emotiva for a 5 channel power amp?

I’m probably not the best for feedback on this. Seems a coin toss to me.

I actually mistyped what I meant to say in regards to ripping out our fireplace. I am ripping it all out, but I'm replacing with a newer, lower profile 42" (or wider) fireplace. Mine is 32 wide and has a traditional high up mantle/surround that's all tied in together. I don't want any surround or molding. I want a clean look with dry stack stone from floor to ceiling, so I can nicely hang an 86" TV without it looking all jammed in there. I'm actually contemplating building in a recess for the center channel, but I haven't decided if that's a good idea or not. The Chane L series is a sealed speaker line (LCR that is, L3's are ported) so there are no rear ports to deal with. I need to talk to Jon and see what he thinks of recessing the L6 partially back into the wall (I could still leave some breathing room behind the L6) and that way the full depth of the speaker wouldn't be sticking out into the room. The L7's would be beside the stone column going from floor to ceiling, therefor there'd be no stone actually behind the L&R.

Where is everyone??? Crickets in here other than JStewert. Some feedback would be interesting. I'll even take someone telling me I'm full of it and my system design sounds idiotic. :ponder::wits::bigsmile:
