SPL Averaging Time

Hi, I have been playing with the SPL Logging feature of REW but there is one thing that would be useful that i dont seem to be able to do.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature where as well as the normal Leq mode that creates an average from the time you hit start to the time you hit stop, would it be possible to create a second option with a definable average time (in minutes)... possibly with the option to show both on the graph at the same time might be useful.

I ask this because i am wanting to use this to monitor noise levels during live events, and while having an average over an entire show is useful it also means that the it takes a long time to change the average dB level over a music set that lasts over an hour.. so having the ability to see an average over the last few minutes thats more responsive vs the average from the start of the show would be useful..

I can add that to the feature request list. From a bit of googling seems Leq over several timescales might be needed, e.g. last minute, last 15 minutes and since last reset? What would you like to see?

For me personally last minute may probably be most useful. Smaart gives the option of 1 minute and 10 minutes.. im not sure what the most popular time scales would be, or if it would be easier if possible to have it as a user definable value? Otherwise i would think the obvious choices would be 1, 5 10, and 15 minutes?

Hi John,

Did you manage to get anywhere with this.

It would be amazing to have the ability to use this on my upcoming tour.

Many Thanks
Sean

Done this now Sean, the next build has traces for Leq over the last minute and the last 10 minutes in the SPL logger in addition to the overall Leq trace.
