Looking for input.

Trying to put together a measurement computer from a "hand me down" dell Optiplex 760 computer
Running Windows 7 with NO sound card. Link to computer specs:

http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/optiplex-760/pd

Any one have suggestions for a sound card that will work in the PCI slot available ?
Top end of my budget is $100 US.

Any help appreciated

I don’t know if you’ll be able to find a PCI soundcard that will accept a professional measurement mic, which requires an XLR input with phantom power. Your best bet is a USB sound card like the one AudiocRaver recommended, or even a USB measurement mic.

Regards,
Wayne

Thanks to you and Audiocraver for the responses. I will look into these options further. I also have to get some help with this computer - make sure it is fully functional for use with REW.
Will regroup and get back with you.

Thanks,
Tom

Update: I picked up a mini DSP USB mic and have been able to perform frequency sweeps, but having trouble setting up, calibrating, and getting proper impedance sweeps.

Doing a little networking I have found access to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2

I see it listed in the REW site to use with other non USB/powered mics.

It looks very similar to the "Tascam" unit suggested ?

I am primarily a two channel guy, interested in speaker building and room acoustics.

Will the Solo do what I need ?

Looks like:

USB mic input to computer
REW driving the process,
USB out to Solo, then use the "monitor" section of Solo to drive speaker for testing ?

Please advise,
Tom R
