Rumored to release spring 2018 and be announced sometime this fall, it will replace the X7200WA and speculatively have 13 on board amps.
Who would be excited about this? I know I would be. I am looking forward to the possibility of implementing a 9.4.4 audio system in my home theater.

Looks like the AVR-X6400H (Europe only?) will process 13.2 channels.

@Todd Anderson got the scoop on upcoming D&M models?

I think some of these descriptions are misleading. the AVR-X7200WA states it does 13.2 processing with 11 amps. What this turns out to be is the secondary feeds you can send to another room. 11.2 in a main room and then two feeds to send to secondary rooms.
So once again the question is does the AVR-X6400H have 13 amps or 11 and two secondary feeds?

I'm curious just how many people can accommodate that many speakers? You'd really need a fairly large dedicated room. I'm maxed out as it is with my 7.2.4 setup. Maybe someday....

Its just a 9 speaker setup with 4 ceiling speakers. So if your running 7.2.4 you just add, essentially a modified front wide set of speakers (closer to the listening position though).
I would be maxed out at that point with 13 speakers I must say, in my aprox. 16'x14' room. I currently have 11.4 and would just remove my two front heights and replace with 4 ceiling...with a little adjustment of my front wide's.

Yeah, that's just too many speakers for my room. The two additional ceiling speakers are definitely a no go for my room. I have actual bookshelf speakers for my four ceiling channels. I could probably swing the two floor channels but really don't see the need. The emersion level is phenomenal as is. I just don't see the added benefit without a small auditorium sized dedicated room. I'm good for now and just enjoying what I have.
